Very occasionally in my career, I choose to paint something simply because I love it.
I had no preconceived plan for this artwork, I didn’t worry about how saleable or popular it would be, I just allowed myself to paint.
The result is a joyous artwork. Warm, bright and gently inquisitive. Big expressive eyes, the light dancing on the neck and cheek, combined with the luscious greens in the background.
I worked on this Giraffe painting during one of our warmest Summers here in the UK. Whenever I look at it now I’m transported back to my sultry studio. The materials are all vegan and cruelty-free. Painted on a wooden panel, with an aluminium sub-frame. Finished with a satin varnish and a sticker on the reverse noting the date of varnishing and the brand. All the info needed when it’s time to get the painting cleaned and refreshed with a new coat. The frame is beautifully hand-built with a dark wood finish and a gilded inlay. Designed for me exclusively by my framers – The Framing Lot.
This painting is built to last with quality materials from the ground up. Made to be enjoyed for several lifetimes.
