Framed Cheetah painting, oil paint on wooden panel.
I titled this piece “Out on a Limb” in recognition to the species’ precarious position. Cheetahs are already listed as “vulnerable”, and scientists are now calling for them to be uplifted to “endangered”. The biggest factors are climate change, hunting by humans, and habitat destruction, which is reducing the size of their populations.

Of all my artwork, I think this Cheetah painting feels the closest to a classic “portrait”. That wasn’t intentional, I didn’t get a Cheetah into the studio and ask meaningful questions while it sat for me! But nevertheless, I feel as though I know this animal. It’s not just a Cheetah, it has personality. It’s gazing at something in the distance, bright and alert but not tense. Those paws gently hanging over the edge of the log.
It was a genuine pleasure to work on, and though it took over two hundred hours to complete, the whole process flowed from beginning to end. I was able to stay present and focused while it came together in front of me..
The materials are all vegan and cruelty-free. Painted on a wooden panel, with an aluminium sub-frame. It’s been finished with a satin varnish, and a sticker on the reverse noting the date of varnishing and the brand. All the info needed when it’s time to get the painting cleaned and refreshed with a new coat. The frame is beautifully hand-built with a dark wood finish and a gilded inlay. Designed for me exclusively by my framers – The Framing Lot.
This painting is built to last, with quality materials from the ground up. It’s made to be enjoyed for several lifetimes.
